Voting is only one component of being civically active, according to Khanay Turner, executive director of the Barbara Jordan Leadership Institute. Cast your ballot and then stay involved by talking policy with elected officials and holding them accountable, she added.

Her comments came during COURIER Texas’ “Faith, Freedom, and the Future of Texas” event on Nov. 5 in partnership with Americans United for Separation of Church and State.
