New Texas law caused some schools to limit student health care services

A Republican-led initiative to ban diversity, equity, and inclusion in public schools had unintentional consequences at the start of the new year.

Senate Bill 12 also impacts how schools administer healthcare to students without parental consent, causing some school nurses to withhold basic care such as bandages or icepacks.

Now, the Texas Education Agency is clarifying the vague language in the bill.
