Running is having a renaissance thanks to local running clubs. Now, people living in the same area can form a community of runners who motivate and hold each other accountable. If you are looking for a fun, new network of friends, here are six running clubs in DFW.

Dallas Running Club

It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or veteran runner, Dallas Running Club provides a space for you to run and have fun with your community. Established in 1981 by founder Tal Morrison, the long-standing organization offers membership, group running, training programs, races and competitions, resources, and more. Now with over 2,000 members, DRC has influenced many people to continue living a healthy lifestyle and push themselves to their full potential.

Denton Area Running Club

Founded in 2015, the Denton Area Running Club helps promote road and trail running in Denton and surrounding areas. Welcoming runners from all abilities and experience levels, DARC hosts weekly social runs, long runs, and other club events throughout the year. Their yearly membership prices are $25 for individuals, $15 for youth under 18, and $35 for a family. With this membership, you get discounts at local races and retailers, discounted prices on club shirts, first choice on volunteer assignments, and an invitation to their annual party. This growing group also gives you access to a community of trainers and race support that allows individuals to take the steps necessary to excel at their next race.

Moms RUN This Town

The Plano/Allen/McKinney/Frisco chapter of Moms RUN This Town is a free running group for women to support and motivate each other in their running journey. From walkers to runners, from human-moms to dog-moms, this group is just a safe space for women to be surrounded by other passionate women who want to stay healthy. Among its perks? You can get  discounts on races and running gear, as well as be able to discuss all things fitness related on their private Facebook group. The chapter emphasizes  kindness and respect within the group no matter the circumstance.

Fort Worth Running Club

This non-profit organization is dedicated to running, walking, and fitness activities that make for better health and community building. Apart from running, the Fort Worth Running Club encourages community service projects and programs for teens. They emphasize being actively involved in the community, and they do this through events such as marathons for the Alzheimer’s Association and the American Cancer Society. All levels of athletic abilities are welcome to participate in their monthly races, as well as attend events throughout the year.

White Rock Running Co-Op

White Rock Running Co-Op is a non-profit group of runners dedicated to working together for training, fitness goals, and friendship. Founded in 2011, this Dallas-based running group is focused on not just running and training, but also finding a fitness-minded people to socialize with (e.g., have dinner,go to happy hour with, or just talk to about their day). The WRRC membership is completely free, so it relies on its members to provide leadership, skills, and supplies for the events. Oak Cliff Run Crew

Oak Cliff Run Crew works to provide community members the resources and support needed to achieve their fitness goals. From marathon medals to parents pushing strollers, this group provides whatever support is needed along varying routes. If you’re interested in running a marathon, this group offers trainings for experienced runners and first-timers, at no cost. Additionally, OCRC has two weekly runs: short runs on Wednesdays from 2 miles or 3.2 miles and longer runs on Sundays varying from 5 to 15 miles. With over 10,000 followers on Instagram, this running club has built its presence based on its tight community, sponsorships with big shoe brands, and its accessibility in the area.
