The Dallas City Council voted to ban short-term rentals throughout most of the city in 2023, but the ruling has been on hold for nearly a year following a lawsuit filed by the Dallas Short-Term Rental Alliance.
Rental operators argue that the move by the city council amounts to an unconstitutional ban on their properties, while the city says it wants to limit where rental properties can operate.
The Texas 5th District Court of Appeals heard the case in November. A decision could come in the next few months.
