DFW has no shortage of impressive pools to make your summer a little cooler. Here are some of our favorite spots around the city.
Ask any Texan who’s been in the state for more than three days knows how to beat the summer heat, and most of them will tell you: Jump into a refreshing body of water.
Unfortunately, many bodies of water in Dallas proper are not the ones you want to cannonball into. But fear not! We still have plenty of pools to help you stay cool all summer long. Here’s a guide to nine of our favorites. Just make sure you remember your shades and sunscreen.
1. Lee Harvey’s Dive In
Lee Harvey’s is already one of Dallas’s most enjoyable bars, and Lee Harvey’s Dive In is right across the street. You can pull off the Lee Harvey Double by sipping on a pint before skipping over to the pool. Or, just … ahem, dive in with all the Dive In has to offer. Order from the full bar and quirky summer menu and enjoy your treats poolside or at a cozy table near the water. Dive In welcomes children until 5 p.m., though they must always stick by an adult. Day passes range from $5 for children to $20 for adults, while a season membership ($350 to $500) scores you endless visits and bonuses like cabanas and loungers.

2. Paradise Vibes
There may not be a ton of natural bodies of water to lounge by in Dallas, but you simply cannot pass up the myriad of options available on Swimply. The service allows you to rent a pool and pay by the hour. It’s all the fun of having a pool without any of the maintenance! One of the top options is the Paradise Vibes Backyard. Of course, the pool itself is a major attraction (and a great way to show off to your friends who couldn’t come to your party), but you can also grill, relax underneath a canopy, and feel like you’re in a tropical getaway.
3. The Cove Aquatic Centers
The most family-friendly entry on this list, The Cove Aquatic Centers has four different locations. Our particular favorite is The Cove at Fretz Park, though The Cove at Crawford Park, The Cove at Samuell Grand Park, and Bachman Aquatic Center are all strong options. The parks feature plenty of water staples, like an 8-lane lap pool and diving board. You’ll also find additional splish-splashing entertainment, such as flume slides, a current channel, and a basketball hoop. Kids can also enjoy the toddler pool and interactive play areas. People under four feet cost $11 (or $6 if you’re a resident), while entry is $14 ($8 for residents) for everyone over 48 inches. Planning to visit a ton this summer? The $85 season pass is a solid deal.
4. Fraternal Order of the Eagles (FOE)
The Fraternal Order of the Eagles boasts more than 650,000 members across over 1,300 locations. The Dallas chapter also sports one of the more enjoyable pools in the city. Nestled in East Dallas, the pool is a welcoming environment for swimmers of all ages. Kids can hop all over the kiddie pool and playground, while adults can dip in the main pool, grab a spiked beverage at the bar, or try a different sort of spike on the sand volleyball courts. Everybody gets in for $10 during weekdays. On weekends and holidays, admission is $15 for adults and $10 for children under 12 years old. Veterans, active military members, and first responders can swim for $5.
5. Joe Pool Lake
One of the finest lakes around Texas, Joe Pool Lake has a pretty pool, er … cool backstory. After over a quarter century of planning and more than a decade of construction, the reservoir opened in 1989 as a collaborative effort between Army engineers, the Trinity River Authority, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, and the Joe Pool Lake Planning Council. There are more than 60 miles of shoreline to set up camp before getting your feet wet, with water coming in from the Walnut and Mountain Creeks. And if you want to impress your friends with your knowledge of bodies of water, tell ‘em that Joe Pool Lake is a rare Texas lake that flows north instead of south.

6. Beeman Hotel
If you’re staying at a hotel in Dallas, you’ll typically get complimentary access to the pool. However, locals can still enjoy some of the finest pools in the land by snatching a ResortPass, which provides access to day passes ($10 for kids, $25 for adults). At the Beeman Hotel, the pool is indoors, so a random summer thunderstorm won’t dampen your day. In fact, you can perk things up even more by ordering goodies from Seely Mill’s, the hotel’s restaurant. Food, drinks, and even coffee are all available for hotel guests and visitors alike.
7. Adolphus Hotel
The Adolphus Hotel is another pool available on ResortPass. Instead of enjoying the shade indoors, you’ll take in a gorgeous view of the Dallas skyline while catching rays on the rooftop deck. Passes start at $35 for the day, though a private cabana might be a better choice if you’ve got a larger group coming. That option costs $150 for six to ten people, giving you a relaxing private area, free water and Gatorade to stay hydrated, and your very own server to bring out poolside eats and cocktails. The pool can also be heated, making it a good choice even on a rare chilly night.
8. Frisco RoughRiders Lazy River
The Texas Rangers have an air-conditioned stadium to watch baseball games. The Frisco RoughRiders, the Double-A affiliate of the Rangers, have no roof covering the field. However, Riders Field does sport the Choctaw Lazy River, a whopping 3,000-square-foot tubing pool. On non-Thursday and Sunday home games, the river is open to groups between 20 and 500 people. If grabbing 499 friends is a tall order, individual attendees can purchase a Lazy River ticket for Thursday (21 and over) and Sunday (all ages) games. It’s a delightful way to catch some chill during a game, though all bets are off if a home run ball heads toward the water—everyone will be excited for the chance at a souvenir.

9. Waterproof
The Beeman is indoors, the Adolphus is outdoors, and Waterproof is a blend of both (and is also on ResortPass). It’s a chic spot on the 19th floor of the Statler Hotel that pairs an outdoor pool area with terrific scenery and an indoor nightclub with a live DJ and bottle service. The pool costs $10 to use Monday through Thursday and $15 on the weekends. You can also level up your experience by snagging a cabana or table for your crew. Leave the kids at home for this one, though—Waterproof is only 21 and older.
