Concerts used to be a treat accessible to all, but in recent years, ticket prices have skyrocketed, many of them unattainable to the average American. According to the New York Times, the average cost of a ticket in 2024 was $135.92. The American leg of Beyonce’s highly-anticipated Cowboy Carter tour is selling nosebleeds for $228 minimum. You couldn’t get a ticket to Taylor Swift’s 2024 Eras Tour for less than $458—about two weeks worth of US daycare costs or a month of groceries for a small family.
Some artists are bypassing the headache of a tour and setting up residencies to perform to a crowd that comes to them. Bad Bunny announced a 21-show Puerto Rico residency for the summer early this year, and Toni Braxton is heading back to Las Vegas with Cedric The Entertainer for another installment of their Love & Laughter residency with July dates. While residencies are easier for the artists, they leave fans now having to budget for not only the cost of the concert, but travel and hotel fees.
Artist Macklemore once rapped about having $20 in his pocket, but still being determined to “pop some tags.” If you are determined to enjoy a good concert this summer on a limited budget, there’s good news.
Here are some concerts that you and your wallet can enjoy.
