Fruitbowl in Dallas: My 24 oz. bowl was gone in 20 minutes

In this week’s Don’t Sleep On feature, I was inspired by a viral video to get a hearty fruit bowl.

Fruit may not seem like something you’d wait for, but a recent video circulating on social media pointed out that Fruitbowl on Cedar Springs Road in Dallas was a hidden gem because of that. 

I checked Fruitbowl out on a weekday afternoon, so I only had to wait about five minutes before it was my turn to place an order. Fruitbowl has smoothies, ice cream, and other sweet offerings, but I knew I wanted to try one of the hearty fruit bowls I’d seen online. 

You can build your own bowl or pick from a few different predetermined combinations and then choose between a 24 or 36 oz bowl. I ordered the Paradise Cream Delight, a mix of bananas, blueberries, kiwis, pineapples, and mangoes, topped with mango cream, honey, and chopped pistachios. 

Fruitbowl has smoothies, ice cream, hearty fruit bowls, and other fresh offerings.

My mouth watered looking at all the fresh fruit displayed in front of me. 

Buying fruit in the grocery store is often a really disappointing experience, and even if you find some quality produce, you have to know exactly the best time to eat it. I feel like I’m always slicing into something too early or too late, never quite getting that refreshing bite I’m looking for. 

My 24 oz. bowl was $14. It was a lot of fruit, so I knew I’d have some left for the following day. I raced home eyeing the bag the whole way. It would be crazy to open the bowl and take a bite at a stop light, right?

I got home and immediately tore into it—the entire bowl was gone in 20 minutes and probably would have been faster if I hadn’t been distracted by a neighbor at the door. 

Everything tasted so fresh, like it had been cut just moments before I got there. These aren’t your mushy cuts or syrupy pieces from a can! The mango cream was delicious, and was complimented well by the honey. The nuts added some texture contrast, which I always appreciate. Even though I have a slight allergy to many fruits, I couldn’t be stopped. This was a lovely treat I’ll definitely circle back to.
