8 kid-friendly DFW destinations to visit on spring break

Have a picnic, visit wildlife, and check out more cool (and educational!) spring break experiences in Dallas-Fort Worth.

Spring break is just around the corner—and parents have to figure out how to fill seven days with no school! Luckily, the Dallas-Fort Worth area has tons of kid-friendly spring activities for families to enjoy together.

Walk around the Dallas Zoo, open for extended hours this time of year, or take the kids to a unique entertainment experience, such as Peppa Pig World of Play or Netflix House Dallas. Have a picnic among spring tulips or sign your kids up for a spring break camp.

Whether you are looking for educational activities or pure family fun, there is so much to do in DFW this spring. Check out a few of the places I’ve enjoyed visiting with my kids—ages 8, 7, and 4—below.

1. Peppa Pig World of Play

3000 Grapevine Mills Parkway, Grapevine

Don’t worry about the weather this spring break, because the Peppa Pig World of Play is located inside Grapevine Mills Mall. The playground, based on the hit children’s series, “Peppa Pig,” features 14 free-roaming play areas.

Preschoolers (and older siblings) will enjoy jumping in muddy puddles, exploring Peppa’s house, crawling inside Rebecca Rabbit’s Hill, and even meeting Peppa Pig! There is also a shop and a café, so you can be entertained all day.

Tickets start at $18 for children ages 1-8.

2. Legoland Discover Center

3000 Grapevine Mills Parkway, Grapevine

You don’t have to travel to Florida or California to experience the wonder of Legoland—you can experience a smaller experience (albeit still packed with fun!) at the Legoland Discover Center.

This unique experience includes indoor amusement park rides, a 4-D cinema, a virtual reality experience, and a Pirate Beach water experience area. Kids can practice ninja moves, meet Lego characters, and, of course, build their own Lego creations.

Tickets start from $21.99 per person.

3. Netflix House Dallas

13550 North Dallas Parkway, Dallas

One of the coolest interactive experiences in the country is open right here in Dallas! Netflix House Dallas is the second-ever Netflix house in the country, and it features unique merchandise based on hit Netflix Original series, including “Stranger Things,” “Squid Game,” “Wednesday,” “Bridgerton,” “KPop Demon Hunters,” and more.

After browsing the shop, you can book an interactive experience (starting at $39) for older kids to enjoy (kids under 14 must be accompanied by an adult). In Stranger Things: Escape the Dark, you can wander through Hawkins to find three missing townspeople. Or join Squid Games: Survive the Trials, where you can play games, face off against the Front Man, and even betray your friends to win.

Kids of all ages will enjoy the Netflix RePLAY area, which has story rooms, challenges, and games based on “Floor Is Lava,” “Big Mouth,” “Sakamoto Days,” and more. Refillable game cards are available starting at $10.

4. Fort Worth Zoo

1989 Colonial Parkway, Fort Worth

Nearly 7,000 animals call the Fort Worth Zoo home, spread out over 64 acres. You’ll have plenty of time to explore every habitat during spring break, where the hours are extended from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on weekdays and until 6 p.m. on the weekend.

Your kids will love seeing baby animals, including lion cubs, Imara and Tamu, born in June 2025, and a baby Asian elephant named Lady Bird, born in Aug. 2025. You can also feed giraffes, play in the Safari Splash water area, ride on the Yellow Rose Express train, sift for treasures at Lone Star Mining, and play in the Central Market Playbarn.

Have super animal enthusiasts? Sign up children ages 5-10 years old for Spring Break Camp at the Fort Worth Zoo so they can learn more about the wildlife here.

General admission tickets start at $22 for adults and $18 for kids.

5. Dallas Arboretum

8525 Garland Road, Dallas

The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden is currently hosting Dallas Blooms, the most colorful time of year, with fields of 500,000 vibrant tulips and other seasonal flowers like daffodils, hyacinth, cherry blossoms, and azaleas.

My family goes every year, and my kids love running around the huge field surrounded by tulips. This time, we set up a picnic blanket and brought a cooler with sandwiches and snacks, where we simply enjoyed the beautiful spring weather (which is not always a given here in North Texas!). The kids loved playing with the cute caterpillars that crawled along our blanket, and we got tons of fun photos.

They also have an incredible children’s garden with interactive exhibits, a splash fountain, and kid-friendly activities.

Tickets start at $21.95 for adults and $17.95 for kids ages 3-12.

6. Great Wolf Lodge

100 Great Wolf Drive, Grapevine

Spring is full of adventure at Great Wolf Lodge. Kids will love dancing at the SplashFest Family Dance Party, doing a spring-themed morning yoga, meeting characters from the Great Wolf Pack, making flowers and other crafts, and playing spring-inspired games.

Of course, the biggest attraction at Great Wolf is their indoor water park, which is 84 degrees year-round and allows you to enjoy the spirit of summer no matter the weather outside.

And if you don’t want to stay overnight, you can also purchase a day pass for access to all the amenities, starting at $35.

7. Perot Museum

The Perot Museum is one of the most entertaining and educational places to take your kids. My children love seeing the dinosaur bones, learning about space, and exploring all the hands-on exhibits.

Foster your kids’ love of STEM with interactive activities at the museum. Kids can act like real scientists inside the bio lab, where they can learn how sound travels through our bodies. The ChallENGe Lab is for children interested in art, engineering, and tech programming, and the Art Lab is for younger kids to make art.

The Perot Museum also has a new Soccer: More Than a Game exhibit, where you can see how science, technology, and culture impact the popular sport.

Tickets start at $25 for adults and $15 for kids.

8. Dallas Zoo

650 S.R.L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas

From Nile crocodiles to hippopotamuses, clouded leopards to gorillas, there are so many amazing animals to see at the Dallas Zoo. Bring a picnic and spend the whole day visiting and feeding the wildlife here with the kids.

Get more from your visit with a Wild Pass, which is just $25 and includes unlimited rides on the Endangered Species Carousel and the Monarch Express mini train; a one-time pass to hand-feed giraffes and to feed birds; unlimited access to the Destination: Dinosaurs exhibit; and a one-time pass to the Wild Explorer VR experience.

The Dallas Zoo is open for extended hours in the spring (through June 30), so you can explore the animal habitats from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets start at $20.
