14 Houston-area school districts offering free summer meals for children

For parents looking to get meals for their children this summer, many Houston-area school districts offer free breakfast and lunch at various campuses. Different restrictions or rules vary by district, so please check district websites for the most up-to-date information. Summer holidays may affect availability, and locations are subject to change.

Alief Independent School District

  • Alief ISD offers free breakfast and lunch for children under 18, as well as people with disabilities 21 and under.
  • Children do not have to be enrolled in a summer program. Children must eat onsite, and visitors will be required to sign in.

Clear Creek Independent School District

  • CCISD offers free breakfast and lunch for all children under 18.
  • All meals will be served in the cafeteria and must be eaten onsite.

Crosby Independent School District

  • CISD offers free breakfast and lunch for all children under 18.
  • Only one breakfast and lunch will be served to each child and must be eaten onsite.

Cypress Fairbanks Independent School District

  • CFISD offers free breakfast and lunch for all children under 18, as well as people with disabilities 21 and under.
  • CFISD will host a Summer Meals Kick-Off on June 10, 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at Campbell Middle School, 11415 Bobcat Road, Houston. This event will feature resources for parents and activities for children. Adults can purchase a lunch for $5 in cash, while children eat free.

Fort Bend Independent School District

  • FBISD offers free breakfast and lunch for all children under 18, as well as people with disabilities 21 and under.

  • GPISD offers free breakfast and lunch for all children under 18.
  • Children do not need to sign up for meals, but meals must be eaten onsite.

  • Houston ISD offers free breakfast and lunch for all children under 18, as well as people with disabilities 21 and under.

Huffman Independent School District

  • Huffman ISD offers free breakfast and lunch for all children under 18.
  • Meals are only available at Huffman Elementary School in the Copeland Cafeteria.

Humble Independent School District

  • Humble ISD offers free breakfast and lunch for all children under 18, as well as people with disabilities 21 and under.
  • No form of identification is required, but meals must be eaten onsite.

Katy Independent School District

  • Katy ISD offers free breakfast and lunch for all children under 18.
  • Meals must be eaten onsite. Paetow, Mayde Creek, and Morton Ranch high schools will only serve lunch.

Klein Independent School District

  • Klein ISD offers free breakfast and lunch for all children under 18, as well as people with disabilities 21 and under.
  • Kids do not have to apply, register, or provide identification. Klein ISD will host a Summer Meals Kick-Off on June 5, 12:30-2 p.m. at Klein High School, 16715 Stuebner Airline Road, Klein. This event will feature resources for parents and activities for children. Adults can purchase a lunch for $5 in cash, while children eat free.
