As the holiday season fast approaches, we all want to save a little bit of money while still getting out of the house and enjoying the nice weather Houston has finally blessed us with. Check out these upcoming free events.

16th Annual iWRITE Book Signing & Literacy Festival

Celebrate young, published authors and illustrators at this festival, and enjoy scavenger hunts, book signings, and photo ops. There will also be free children’s books and a superhero costume contest.

Nov. 1, noon-4 p.m.

Día de los Muertos Parade and Festival

Learn more about the Day of the Dead with live music, a colorful procession parade, delicious treats, and interactive arts and crafts.

Nov. 1, 4-11 p.m.

Election Day

Perform your civic duty and head out to the polls to cast your vote on 17 statewide propositions, as well as other local elections.

Nov. 4, 7 a.m.-7 p.m.

The Galleria’s Holiday Tree Lighting

Get into the holiday spirit at the Galleria as the mall lights their 55 foot long Christmas tree. There will also be ice skating performances to mark the occasion.

Night Market 2025

Hosted by the Asia Society Texas Center, explore Houston’s AAPI communities through food, arts, shopping, and activities. Entry is free, but some activities and performances cost $5.

BLCK Market: Celebrating Black-Owned Businesses

Falling on the third Saturday of each month, this market offers Black vendors an opportunity to sell their clothing, art, candles, skincare, books, and more, while visitors enjoy live music and on-site food trucks.
