Wondering where to live in Houston? Follow the stars to your perfect neighborhood.
Hey baby, what’s your sign? It’s a lame pickup line for sure, but as a way to meet people, it might make some sense. Science tells us that the stars are aligned a certain way at a certain time. Astrologers suggest that we have developed certain personality traits based on the alignment of the stars at the time of our birth. And if you believe that there might be even a kernel of truth to the star pattern = personality equation, you might want to choose a neighborhood that keeps your inner Libra or Aries happy.
Luckily, the city of Houston is vast: it’s made up of 88 neighborhoods, all distinct but nicely blended together, so you can easily follow your instincts if one area appeals more than the other. If you’re just starting out in H-Town, here’s your introduction on where to live in Houston based on your zodiac sign.
Aries—Downtown Houston
Born between March 21 and April 19, Aries are full of gusto, much like their symbol, the Ram. While they might not batter their opponents, they get particularly excited about competition, and yes, they do enjoy a good win.
It makes sense, then, for Aries to surround themselves with sports, and the best place to do that is Downtown Houston. Here, you’ll find Toyota Center, Shell Energy Center, and Daikin Park. They house the Rockets, the Dynamos and the Dash at the first soccer-specific stadium in a major city, and the World Series-winning Astros, respectively.

Taurus—River Oaks
Bulls are known for being stubborn, and Taurus is no exception. But if you were born between April 20 and May 20, you’ll likely insist that your stubbornness is all for good. Case in point—a Taurus loves great food and is drawn to the finer things in life, and you won’t stop until you get it.
That’s why River Oaks is the place for you. This tree-lined neighborhood is filled with posh shopping, award-winning restaurants, fine jewelry, and stately homes, the perfect place for someone who loves to live large.
Gemini—Museum District
Maybe it has something to do with the Twins symbol that Geminis seem to have two competing traits. They love reading and quiet learning, but they also thrive on keeping busy, both mentally and physically.
If you were born between May 21 and June 20, Houston’s Museum District will meet both of those needs. It’s filled with culture, so much so that you can live here for years and not see it all. With 21 sites, including museums, outdoor theaters, and centers for learning, this neighborhood is a hub of activity with plenty of nooks and crannies where you can find quiet spots for reflection.

Cancer—Buffalo Bayou
Buffalo Bayou, a body of water and surrounding area, stretches along three neighborhoods. It’s just minutes from Downtown, and it runs between Montrose and Fourth Ward.
The most distinguishing characteristic of Cancer’s Crab, born between June 21 and July 22, is that they’re drawn to water, so it makes sense for them to find a home near opportunities to kayak, fish, or just gaze at the river. But you’ll also have access to scenic biking and walking trails, as well as restaurants and shopping.

Leo—Sugar Land
Known as the Sweetest Town on Earth, Sugar Land was once home to Imperial Sugar and now serves as an excellent place for families to settle down. With its own minor league baseball team, a quaint town filled with restaurants and shops, the top-notch entertainment venue Smart Financial Center, and some of the best schools in Houston, Sugar Land is the perfect place for Leos, who enjoy play and a small-town atmosphere where you can get to know your neighbors.
If you were born between July 23 and Aug. 22, check out this family-centric neighborhood.
Virgo—Memorial
Celebrating birthdays between Aug. 23 and Sept. 22, Virgos like to take the party outside. Their love of gardening and all things nature draws them to beautiful surroundings.
If you’re a Virgo, head to Memorial, home to the largest urban park in Texas and a lovely arboretum with a special kids’ area. Other green spaces in this neighborhood include Terry Hershey Park and Edith L. Moore Nature Sanctuary. And if your job takes you to the Energy Corridor, Memorial is conveniently close by, cutting down on drive time and traffic.
Libra—The Galleria/Uptown
Libras’ symbol may be the scales of justice, but their interests usually lie in something a little more superficial. If your birthday is between Setp. 23 and Oct. 22, you are said to crave the lap of luxury. You love beauty, fashion, seeing, and being seen.
There’s no better place than the Galleria and Uptown Houston to make those dreams become a reality. Visitors from all over the world make the Galleria their first, must-see stop in H-Town—that’s because the enormous mall houses just about every major designer. The area surrounding the mall is equally upscale, so Libras who love labels belong in Uptown.
Scorpio—First Ward
Much like their Scorpion symbol, those born between Oct. 23 and Nov. 21 can be intense, emotional, and quite mysterious. The one place those qualities will be met with great appreciation is First Ward, an old railroad community well underway in its impressive gentrification.
Walk to Sawyer Yards, a massive complex where creatives produce impressive art, hang out at one of Houston’s popular local breweries right in your backyard, and take in the evolving architecture in a neighborhood that is getting hipper by the minute.
Sagittarius—Rice Village
You’ll see students with backpacks headed to classes at Rice University, eclectic shops that cater to myriad interests, restaurants for every budget, and beautiful homes in walkable Rice Village.
Those born between Nov. 22 and Dec. 21 have a few things in common—they are youthful and eager to try new things, and if they can’t travel as much as they like, they love to meet a wide range of people right where they are. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Rice Village.
Capricorn—The Heights
Capricorns are highly motivated people. They have an internal desire to work hard, stick to the plan, and reap the rewards. If your birthday falls between Dec. 22 and Jan. 19, you’ve found a way to not let Christmas steal your thunder, and for that, you deserve to live in the Heights.
This neighborhood straddles the line between old and new Houston, embracing work ethic and success while still appreciating vintage clothes, classic LPs, and crawfish by the buckets. You can have it all in the Heights.
Aquarius – Clear Lake
Aquarius may be the Water Bearer, but birthday kids between Jan. 20 and Feb. 18 actually tend to be much more complex than their symbol implies. Always looking toward the future and open to the unknown, Aquarians would do well to make a home in Clear Lake, a major hub for NASA and its Johnson Space Center.
Here’s the beauty of this location—it’s also on a lake (hence its name) connected to Galveston Bay and the Gulf of Mexico, so Aquarians can enjoy the now while dreaming about the future.

Pisces—Theater District
When you have a creative bent, appreciate art of every kind, and are sometimes just a little bit moody, it helps to be around others of like mind and sentiment.
Join your fellow creatives (who may or may not share birthdays between Feb. 19 and March 20) in Houston’s Theater District, where interactive art meets dancing, singing, and performing. Walk to Post HTX, a former post office converted to workspaces, foods from around the world, and Art Club, a new interactive display that will remind you you’re among your people.
No matter where the stars send you in Houston, you’ll have your choice of fun things to do this summer in neighborhoods throughout the city. Enjoy!
