FlixBus adds two new Texas-to-Tennessee routes to growing network

FlixBus recently added routes from Dallas to Nashville and from Houston to Memphis.

In one of my favorite movies, “The Thing Called Love,” the main character takes a bus (though not a FlixBus) to Nashville to pursue her dreams of becoming a musician. While I primarily watched it the first time because it stars River Phoenix, I ended up being moved by this romantic idea of taking a long-distance voyage to try something new.

If you’re similarly moved by this notion, or you simply want to get out of town for a few days, FlixBus has you covered. The affordable bus service recently announced it will be launching two direct routes from Texas to Tennessee.

The first (which already kicked off on August 13) runs from Dallas to Nashville, and the second (which launches August 27) will take you from Houston to Memphis, with several exciting stops along the way for each.

For the Dallas-Nashville route, direct access is offered to and from the following locations:

  • Dallas Bus Station – 9755 Harry Hines Blvd Dallas, TX 75220
  • Sulphur Springs (Travel Center) – 1600 W Shannon Rd Sulphur Springs, TX 75482
  • Texarkana (Travel Stop) –  4020 S Lake Drive Texarkana, TX 75501
  • Memphis Bus Station – 3033 Airways Blvd Memphis, TN 38131
  • Nashville Bus Station – 709 Rep John Lewis Way South Nashville, TN 37203

Depending on how many stops are being made and what’s going on with traffic on any given day, the complete journey from Dallas to Nashville will take between 11.5 and 14.5 hours. Ticket prices vary depending on the day and time you’re traveling, and your final destination. They can be purchased in advance via FlixBus’s website and mobile app.

Katrina Frayter, the head of communications for Flix North America, said in a statement, “The South continues to see increasing demand for affordable, convenient ways to travel between major cities. As more travelers look for alternatives to driving or flying, we’re expanding our network to make it easier to reach the destinations that matter most, whether you’re traveling for school or work, visiting friends and family, or taking a vacation.”

While on board, passengers have access to free Wi-Fi, conveniently located power outlets, added legroom, and plush seating. Everyone is permitted to bring one carry-on item and one stowed bag with them during their trip.

Another new FlixBus route will take you from Houston to Memphis (and a few other places, too)

The Dallas-Nashville route operates five days a week, and the other new route, Houston-Memphis, will as well. Buses traveling between Houston and Memphis will also operate on an extended schedule for the month of November to accommodate for added trips around Thanksgiving.

Stops along the Houston-Memphis route are as follows:

  • Downtown Houston (Gray St.) – 605 Gray St Houston, TX 77002
  • Lake Charles (Lakepoint) – 750 Enterprise Blvd Lake Charles, LA 70601
  • Lafayette (Louisiana) – 1701 N University Ave Lafayette, LA 70507
  • Baton Rouge Bus Station – 1253 Florida Blvd Baton Rouge, LA 70802
  • New Orleans Bus Station – 1001 Loyola Ave New Orleans, LA 70113
  • Hattiesburg – 635 US-49 S Hattiesburg, MS 39401
  • Meridian Bus Stop – 1901 Front St Meridian. MI 39301
  • Batesville (Terza One Stop Shop) – 22023 MS-6 Batesville, MI 38606
  • Memphis Bus Station – 3033 Airways Blvd Memphis, TN 38131

Like the Dallas-Nashville tickets, the price you pay to travel on the Houston-Memphis route varies depending on when you’re going and which stop you plan on getting off at. Click here to take a closer look at scheduling and pricing.
