15-year-old-student calls out islamophobia in new texas social studies standards

During public testimony at Monday’s State Board of Education meeting in Austin, a 15-year-old student from Austin shared her concerns over newly proposed high school social studies teaching standards. Under the new standards, which have been slammed by critics for including white Christian nationalist ideology in curriculum, there are no neutral mentions of Islam. The board is expected to vote on the standards by the end of the week.
