Well, North Texas parents: You made it. School is officially back in session. I hope y’all are surviving the scramble of backpacks, lunches, late buses, drop-off lines, and whatever else the first week of school has thrown your way.

Though I have to say, this North Texas dad might’ve won this week. He sent his kids off to class while dressed like an ’80s fitness instructor—I’m talking neon spandex, headband, the whole deal. Apparently, embarrassing his kids with ridiculous costumes is an annual tradition, which I deeply respect.

Which makes me wonder: What does back-to-school season look like in your house? Maybe you have a first-day tradition, a funny story, a piece of advice for fellow parents getting back into the swing of things—or just a very strong opinion about school drop-off lines. Hit reply and tell us.

Trump’s midterm convention in Dallas is one month away. Here’s what we know

President Donald Trump will gather with Republicans for a first-of-its-kind midterm-year convention at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, which holds roughly 20,000 people, from Sept. 9-10.

While many details about the event remain a mystery, here’s what we do know.

First of all, it won’t be a typical convention. Trump announced the event at the end of June, giving city officials only three months to prepare.

A typical party convention conducts party business, such as deciding a policy platform and electing delegates. None of that is planned for September’s event.

Instead, the event is being touted as a “Trumpapalooza” fundraiser meant to “celebrate the America-First movement and raise resources to support Republican candidates” ahead of the Nov. 3 general election.
