Guy Fieri has visited 22 San Antonio restaurants on “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.” Here’s every spot he featured.

Since the show first aired on the Food Network in 2007, “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” has been shining a spotlight on beloved local restaurants across the US. San Antonio has seen its fair share of episodes, with 22 different establishments gaining attention from host Guy Fieri over the years. Some of the restaurants highlighted on the show have since closed, though most are still operational.

Regardless of whether the iconic Texas spots are open or closed, it’s always an exciting moment when a hometown restaurant receives national attention. It’s good for local businesses and their owners, and being able to share something you love with a new group of people allows you to connect with a broader community. And maybe you’ll even hear about a new spot you haven’t visited yet!

Here are all 22 San Antonio restaurants previously featured on “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.”

Beto’s Alt Mex

Location: Permanently closed (previously 8142 Broadway)

Before it closed in 2023, Beto’s Alt Mex had been a popular San Antonio restaurant since its grand opening in 1997. It served a “blend of Mexican street food, Latin soul, and a whole lotta love.” Beto’s closed due to an unmanageable increase in operating costs, per co-owner Chris Masker.

Bun ‘n’ Barrel

Location: Temporarily closed (1150 Austin Hwy)

Bun ‘n’ Barrel temporarily closed in 2022 following 70 years of service. As of writing, it doesn’t appear as though there are any active plans to reopen the beloved drive-in establishment. Guy Fieri visited back in 2011, and the restaurant also appeared in the 1997 film “Selena.”

Con Huevos Tacos

Location: 1629 E Houston St.

Con Huevos Tacos serves up an array of specialty items, including huarache, chilaquiles, and of course, tacos. You can browse the full menu here and stay up to date with what Con Huevos is doing on Instagram. When Guy Fieri visited the establishment in 2024, he enjoyed one of the famous breakfast tacos that has Texans lining up every weekend.

Dignowity Meats

Location: Permanently closed (previously 1701 E Houston St.)

Unfortunately, Dignowity Meats permanently closed in 2024 after 10 years of serving up delicious smoked meats to the San Antonio community. “We have truly cherished our time on the East Side and will forever hold a special place for this restaurant in our hearts,” the restaurant stated on Facebook when the closure was announced. The episode of “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” featuring Dignowity Meats aired in January 2019.

Dough Pizzeria Napoletana

Location: 6989 Blanco Road

Guy Fieri tucked into one of Dough Pizzeria Napoletana’s famous Neopolitan-style pies back in 2011. The business is still going strong today, and visitors can order from an extensive menu featuring items like house-made burrata, seasonal pizzas, lasagna, and more. There’s a secondary location at 518 S. Alamo Street.

El Bohio Restaurant

Location: Permanently closed (previously 1127 Harry Wurzbach Road)

Guy Fieri visited El Bohio twice for “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” before the restaurant closed its doors for good. During Fieri’s first visit in 2011, he sang the praises of chef Andre Cerbones’s mofongo, which is a dish composed of fried pork, garlic sauce, and mashed plantains. On his second visit, the Food Network star enjoyed the ropa vieja.

Fat Tummy Empanadas

Location: 2922 W Commerce St.

Fat Tummy Empanadas was highlighted during a 2018 episode of Guy Fieri’s hit show, during which he celebrated the restaurant’s background and quality. “You’re the example of the American story. That’s why we do Triple-D,” he said during the episode. Savory and sweet empanadas are served here, as are sandwiches, sides, and its famous chimichurri.

Julia’s Bistro and Bar

Location: 1725 Blanco Road

Guy Fieri visited Julia’s Bistro and Bar in March 2024 and highlighted the French-style fare served up at this Blanco Road location. Brunch, dinner, and drinks are served at Julia’s, and popular menu items include chargrilled oysters, steak frites, and bourbon apple pie pudding, to name a few.

La Panadería

Location: 8305 Broadway

La Panadería opened in 2014 and has since become a staple in the San Antonio food scene. Its downtown location serves up coffee, juices, breakfast, brunch, tortas, salads, and specialty sandwiches, like its popular fiesta lobster roll. To take a look at the full menu, click here. The Triple-D episode featuring La Panadería aired in 2017.

Luna Rosa Puerto Rican Grill y Tapas

Location: 1014 S Alamo St.

Luna Rosa recently moved to a new location on 1014 S Alamo St. As of writing, they’ve yet to announce an official re-opening date, but expect to do so soon. Ma Harper’s Creole Kitchen

The menu includes po-boys, fried pork chops, sweet potato pie, and red beans and rice.

Moroccan Bites

Location: 5718 Evers Road

Moroccan Bites is a family-owned restaurant “dedicated to bringing authentic, homemade Moroccan food to the San Antonio, TX community.” During Guy Fieri’s visit, he was particularly impressed with the cooked lamb. Other popular dishes include the chicken tagine, kefta kabob, fish pastilla, and Moroccan couscous.

Ro-Ho Pork and Bread Tortas Ahogadas

Location: 8617 N New Braunfels Ave.

During the 2024 “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” episode highlighting Ro-Ho Pork and Bread Tortas Ahogadas, the Mayor of Flavortown enthusiastically enjoyed the restaurant’s signature tortas. They’re available in a variety of options, including pork butt carnitas and vegetarian. Ro-Ho serves up tacos, chilakillers, and salads, too, so there’s something for everyone on the menu.

Sichuan House

Location: 3505 Wurzbach Road, #102

According to its website, Sichuan House “has been San Antonio’s go-to destination for bold, authentic, and unapologetically spicy Sichuan cuisine.” Take-out and dine-in options are available, and the menu features dishes like Mom & Pop Spicy Beef, Glazed Chicken Poppers, and Love Me, Hate Me: The Spicy Cumin. It was featured in a March 2024 episode of Triple-D.

Smoke Shack BBQ

Location: 3714 Broadway

Smoke Shack BBQ, located on Broadway, is a local favorite. So, naturally, Guy Fieri had to visit it back in 2018. This high-quality BBQ joint serves up Frito pie, fried chicken, brisket, pulled pork, fried okra, baked beans, and several other mouth-watering options. Click here to check out the menu.

Taco Taco Cafe

Location: Permanently closed, 145 E Hildebrand Ave, Suite B

Like several other notable names on this list, the much-loved Taco Taco Cafe has permanently closed in recent years. Owner and founder Helen Velesiotis told the Trintonian in 2024 that she’d love to reopen on the Trinity University campus one day, after being forced to close in 2023 due to changes to dining options. Guy Fieri visited back in 2011.

The Cove

Location: 606 W Cypress Street

Though “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” featured The Cove all the way back in 2009, the restaurant is still one of the most popular San Antonio destinations to this day. The Cove has around 60 craft beers on tap and menu staples like nachos, burgers, tacos, and fries. The restaurant prides itself on sourcing local ingredients, writing on its website, “We buy locally, not just because it provides you with fresher, healthier food, but also because it makes for a healthier community. Buying local means we are supporting our neighbors, our friends, people we develop relationships with.”

The Jerk Shack

The Magnolia Pancake Haus

Location: 10333 Huebner Road and 2070 N Loop 1604 E

The Magnolia Pancake Haus has several locations, including two in San Antonio. There are buttermilk, bacon, and pecan pancakes, plus a whole host of breakfast dishes like omelets, eggs benedicts, French toast, and more. Guy Fieri enjoyed the corned beef hash and bacon waffles.

The restaurant’s website features the tagline, “Slow food served up with a quick beer,” which accurately reflects the experience you’ll enjoy here. Dinner items include signature pizzas, wings, smash burgers, and a Texas reuben. Guy Fieri was particularly impressed by the pastrami sandwich.

Wrigleyville Grill

Location: 602 Northwest Loop 410, Suite 146
