Prices are rising, nothing is cheap anymore, and—let’s face it— no one wants to spend more money than they absolutely have to.
Most shoppers know there’s nothing like the thrill of bringing home a newly purchased item. But, an even bigger thrill is scoring a deal and finding a gem for next to nothing.
I recently asked Houston residents on social media to tell me their favorite local thrift stores. Here are the shops they love the most.
1203 Lovett Blvd., Houston
This shop is affiliated with the Charity Guild of Catholic Women, which aims to benefit children’s charities all over the greater Houston area. Since 1952, over 200 unique charitable organizations have received grants in excess of $9.5 million.

Ninety-six cents of every dollar made goes into providing HIV services at this national chain. Large donations items can be scheduled for pickup through their online form. Even cooler, in addition to offering a slew of clothing and other items, they offer HIV testing services at all locations.
5007 Bissonnet St., Bellaire
The shop offers personal shopping and image consulting. Items for sale include a blend of women’s, men’s, teen and children’s clothing and accessories, household goods, home accents, and electronics.

Items are 10% off on the first Saturday of each month, and includes an eclectic mix of furniture, vintage items, home decor, collectibles, women’s jewelry, silverware, men’s clothing, women’s clothing and much more.
615 W. Alabama St., Houston
The shop opened in 1959 to help fund the Blue Bird Circle Clinic for Pediatric Neurology, and now helps fund research for pediatric neurology. In addition to featuring home furnishings, clothes, and jewelry, The Blue Bird Circle also helps organize volunteer groups for the clinic and the shop.
Memorial Assistance Ministries

The resale store offers daily specials, and a quarterly sale where items are 50% off. Items include clothing for men, women, and children (including designer labels), as well as housewares and art. Proceeds go towards helping families stay in their homes, stay healthy, and learn skills to become more independent.
