Despite its cult-like following and sprawling travel centers, Texas-based Buc-ee’s isn’t topping the charts when it comes to customer satisfaction.
A newly released study by the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) found that Buc-ee’s customer satisfaction score slipped from 79 in 2025 to 77 in 2026, a three percent decline.
Taking the top spot was Meijer, a Grand Rapids, Michigan-based retailer that operates more than 500 supercenters, grocery stores and neighborhood markets, including 244 Meijer Express locations, across Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin, according to USA TODAY.

Meijer earned a customer satisfaction score of 82, a five percent increase from the previous year. QuikTrip came in second with a score of 80, followed by Sheetz, Wawa, Kwik Trip and Murphy USA.
Buc-ee’s ranked behind all six retailers.
Overall, convenience stores earned favorable marks for their locations, operating hours, checkout speed and food offerings. However, the survey found room for improvement, particularly when it comes to mobile apps, which continue to fall short of customer expectations.
Store and restroom cleanliness also received relatively low ratings — an especially notable finding for Buc-ee’s, which has built part of its reputation around its famously clean bathrooms.
