October has the unique distinction of being both National Book Month and National Pizza Month, and what better way to celebrate this dual occasion than by applying for one of 24 free “Little Hut Libraries,” from Pizza Hut and Little Free Library.

The Plano-based pizza store and the nonprofit responsible for the rise of Little Free Libraries around the country teamed up to make this exciting giveaway possible, and they’ve thrown in a few added bonuses along the way.

These limited-edition book exchange boxes were designed to look like Pizza Hut restaurants and feature its distinct red roof. In addition to providing winners with the Little Hut Library itself (which comes assembled), packages also include a charter sign, a stand or post to mount the box, 25 new books to use in the library, and merchandise from Pizza Hut and BOOK IT!.

For those unfamiliar with BOOK IT!, the program has been operated by Pizza Hut since 1984 and focuses on incentivizing children to read more by offering gift certificates for one free Personal Pan PizzaⓇ per month for every month the child reaches their reading goals. The company’s partnership with Little Free Library further showcases its commitment to encouraging community literacy.

To sweeten the pot for the Little Hut Libraries giveaway, winners will receive a select number of coupons for Personal Pan PizzasⓇ to either be included in the library or to be used for their own visit to Pizza Hut.

The Chief Marketing Officer of Pizza Hut US, Melissa Friebe, said in a statement, “Pizza Hut has always been about more than pizza; it’s about the memories and moments that happen around it. Our red roofs and BOOK IT! are two iconic pieces of Pizza Hut history, and we’ve long admired Little Free Library’s mission to bring books to communities across the country. Little Hut Libraries bring our shared passion for reading to life in a uniquely Pizza Hut way, putting more books into communities, all under our beloved red roof.”

Little Free Library’s Executive Director and CEO Daniel Gumnit is equally excited about the collaboration. Gumnit said, “We’re grateful to Pizza Hut for bringing its decades-long commitment to young readers to this collaboration. Little Hut Libraries are a fun and nostalgic way to put more books within reach while inviting neighbors to share in the joy of reading. We love seeing the Little Free Library concept reimagined in such a playful and recognizable way, and we’re excited to help these Little Hut Libraries find homes in communities across the country.”
