Bronwood’s beloved Feels Like Home Festival is back on October 3. The first batch of local pitmasters serving up mouth-watering BBQ at the event was recently released, with several hailing from around Dallas-Fort Worth.
As of writing, Fort Worth’s Olmos BBQ and Trophy Club’s Original Roy Hutchins Barbecue have been confirmed, as has Hurtado Barbecue out of Arlington and Forth Worth. The rest of Texas is well-represented so far—the following restaurants are scheduled to serve up an array of items:
- Victorian’s Barbecue – Mart, TX
- Bosque River Taphouse – Stephenville, TX
- Brantley Creek Barbecue – Odessa, TX
- Hill City Chop House – Tolar, TX
- Pody’s BBQ – Pecos, TX
- Rossler’s Blue Cord Barbecue – Harker Heights, TX
- Schoepf’s BBQ – Belton, TX
It takes about three hours to drive to Bronwood from Dallas. The Hill Country town is nestled between the DFW area, Abilene, and Austin, and is known for its annual country music/barbecue bash.
In a statement announcing this year’s festivities, Feels Like Home’s director, Steve Clayton, wrote, “Barbecue has been part of the Feels Like Home experience since day one, and we have always believed it deserves the same level of care and attention that we put into the music lineup.”
Clayton added, “This is about making Feels Like Home more than just another concert or music festival. We want people to come to Brownwood and spend the day discovering incredible country music, eating barbecue from pitmasters they may have driven hours across Texas to try, and enjoying the kind of authentic hometown hospitality that makes this community so special.”
Feels Like Home Festival details and tickets
While the pitmasters are a huge draw for the Feels Like Home Festival, the list of musical performances is equally exciting. Caroline Hale, Scotty McCreery, Jack Ingram, Gary Allan, and Mark Chesnutt will be entertaining attendees throughout the day.
As an added bonus, the festival’s organizers wanted to create a more cohesive experience by allowing for food sampling while the performers are on stage. From 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., complimentary samples will be available on the Grass Lawn, which is next to the main stage.
If you want to grab your food and get comfortable, the barbecue area also has a direct view of the stage, so you can either hunker down there or move back and forth freely between the two depending on your mood.
That’s not all, though. Feels Like Home offers several additional forms of entertainment, including axe throwing and mechanical bull riding. Interactive attractions and immersive brand activations can also be found throughout the festival’s grounds.
A clear bag policy is enforced at Feels Like Home, and guests are encouraged to bring their own folding lawn chairs. Designated ADA-accessible viewing areas are found in VIP and general admission sections. Please note that they’re operated as first-come, first-served.
Tickets have already gone on sale and can be purchased here. Prices vary but start at $82. General admission, premium packages, and VIP packages are all available at the above link. Add-ons, such as unlimited barbecue, can be bought for additional fees.
