Is your toothpaste on the FDA recall list? Here’s how to find out

Several types of toothpaste are included in the FDA recall. Here’s why and which brands have been affected.

According to an Enforcement Report recently released by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), over four million tubes of toothpaste have been recalled across the country. The FDA recall was initially issued on September 10 but has since been changed to a Class II recall as of Monday. Essentially, a Class II recall is the second-most serious level of alert within the FDA’s system.

WFAA notes that Class II recalls are issued for “a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.” Several of the affected brands sell variations of children’s toothpaste, causing another layer of alarm.

In an email sent to USA Today on October 22, a representative for the FDA stated the reason behind the toothpaste recall is, officially, “deviations from current good manufacturing practice (CGMP) requirements.” The FDA’s CGMP requirements dictate how products are made, tested, stored, and packaged. They’re also used to ensure products are safe and that they contain the ingredients listed on the packaging and work as promised.

The affected toothpaste varieties include ones produced by Brush Buddies, Evo, and Aru. Each of the items includes fluoride, meaning they fall under the FDA’s jurisdiction as fluoride toothpaste is regulated in America.

If you’re in possession of any of the following types of toothpastes, it’s best and safest to discard them as soon as possible. The easiest way to check to see if your toothpaste is part of the recall is to compare the product name, expiration date, and lot number of the tube against the information provided below. The impacted products have expiration dates listed between November 2026 and June 2028.
