A new fast-casual restaurant serving up an array of chicken products is opening May 2. Here’s what you need to know about Flock & Fresh.
On May 2, a new restaurant called Flock & Fresh is opening in Dallas at 5500 Greenville Ave, Suite 205, in the Old Town Shopping Center. The fast-casual establishment will primarily serve chicken products, similar to chains like Raising Canes and Chick-fil-A. It’s the latest project from notable local restaurateur Wan Kim, the CEO of Smoothie King and founder of Nuri Steakhouse. Speaking with The Dallas Morning News about Flock & Fresh, Kim said, “I really don’t think there’s a concept like ours.”
He expanded on this idea in an official press release announcing the restaurant’s opening. Kim wrote, “At its core, Flock & Fresh is about choice. Some days you want something indulgent and comforting, like crispy chicken. Other days, you’re looking for something lighter and fresh. We wanted to create a place where guests don’t have to compromise.” Kim also told The Dallas Morning News that he thinks “chicken is the best protein in this world.” He added, “I really think the world needs a different chicken place where choices matter. I think it has to be a little healthier.”
If trying Flock & Fresh’s healthier options sounds appealing to you, you’ll be thrilled to hear that several specials are being offered during its grand opening on May 2. The first 250 guests who arrive at the restaurant will receive their meals for free (one per person), and all menu items will be sold at 50% off for the duration of the day. Giveaways and interactive experiences are also scheduled to take place between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
What’s on the menu?
Flock & Fresh will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and will serve both lunch and dinner. The menu includes several staples like crispy chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders, and salad. Signature items like the Golden Treasure, which is a sandwich featuring crispy hand-breaded chicken, dill pickles, and flock spread, are available. Two other signatures are the “Not So Guilty” Pleasure sandwich with grilled chicken breast, flock spread, bacon jam, and dill pickles, as well as the Triple Flock, which is a three-piece chicken tender plate served with a kale salad and homemade chips.
I’m a chicken tender kinda gal myself, so I was excited to read that Flock & Fresh has a variety of sauces (all made in house!) to choose from, like Japanese Ranch, Cajun Buffalo, Honey Mustard, Curry Ranch, Sweet Korean, and BBQ. As if that wasn’t enough to get your mouth watering, salad dressing options include honey balsamic, spicy harissa, yuzu citrus, ranch, lemon vinaigrette, and avocado ranch. The entirety of Flock & Fresh’s menu was created by chef Minji Kim who works alongside Wan Kim at Nuri Steakhouse.
Oh, and all of the chicken served at this new restaurant is free from antibiotics and hormones and is brined for at least 24 hours prior to being served, which is sure to make for a uniquely fresh experience.
