Native Texas musicians are weighing-in on this year’s midterm election, showing their support for Democratic candidates up and down the ballot.
Don Henley

Lead singer of the Eagles Don Henley, who grew up near Texarkana, has become a number one donor to Democratic candidates. He’s sent thousands to James Talarico in the Texas race for US Senate, Vikki Goodwin in the lieutenant governor race, Clayton Tucker in agriculture commissioner race, and Jon Rosenthal in the railroad commissioner race.
Leon Bridges

Fort Worth-raised Leon Bridges visited with Democratic gubernatorial candidate Gina Hinojosa in September after her opponent, Republican Gov. Greg Abbott, used one of his songs in his ”Summer Playlist” and not only wrote the wrong name for Bridge’s hit “Texas Sun,” but also misspelled the name of local Houston band Khruangbin, who is featured on the track.
The Chicks

The Chicks—an American country music girl group formed in Dallas known for taking a political stance—endorsed Democrat James Talarico in his US Senate race by posting an Instagram photo of themselves on tour sporting “Talafreako” T-shirts.
Willie Nelson

Legendary country musician Willie Nelson posted video endorsements for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Gina Hinojosa and Democratic lieutenant governor candidate Vikki Goodwin on Oct. 4. On Oct. 8 he posted a similar video officially endorsing Talarico, who previously appeared on stage with Nelson during his July 4th show in Austin.
