It’s National Food Bank day, and on top of a record amount of need due to cost of living increases and new SNAP benefit restrictions, there’s no more funding for nutrition education. The Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley says recent federal cuts have made it harder for agencies to teach better health practices. The Valley, in particular, struggles with chronic illness at higher rates than other parts of the country, leading in obesity and diabetes.
