Texas’ abortion ban nearly killed her and left her unable to carry children


At a Senate Democrats news conference marking four years since Roe v. Wade was overturned, Amanda Zurawski described being denied abortion care during a nonviable pregnancy in Texas. She said she was sent home to wait because the pregnancy still had a detectable heartbeat, then went into septic shock days later. The medical trauma, she said, caused lasting damage to her reproductive organs and left her unable to carry children.
