‘There is no voter registration backlog’: Harris county election official

Harris County voters headed to the polls Monday as early voting got underway. Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector and Voter Registrar Annette Ramirez provided an update on voter registration efforts through the October 5 deadline and encouraged residents to make their voices heard by casting their ballots, voting herself at the Metropolitan Multi-Service Center. Ramirez also addressed fear surrounding suspended ballots, noting even if a voter finds themselves “on suspense, they’re still allowed to vote.” Should that happen, she continued: “Bring your ID, check in. They’re going to give you a statement of residency. They’re going to let you move forward and go ahead and vote.”
