This week, we asked our Nextdoor and DFW newsletter audience how they felt about the midterm election results. Here’s what folks had to say.

Elias A.
“I may be wrong but the people have spoken”

Michelle A.
“Couldn’t be happier. Hope has been restored to save our democracy”

Lori C.
“Checking home prices and business opportunities in FL”

Janice J.
“I’m 50 years old and my family has been in Texas for 150+ years. I finally feel like my vote matters in my state, for the first time in my life!”

David B.
“Let’s see if they can find something to work on that most people can get behind, like campaign finance reform, banning stock trading with insider information etc.”

Mike W.
“The Democrats have an opportunity to correct several crucial issues where the Republicans failed, like good education opportunity to all, livable minimum wage for Texans, clear guidelines for necessary abortions, and many more. They also have an obligation to work for the common good and not lean to their fringe elements.
Trading one bad for another bad will put us back to politics we have had for many years. God help us to become a more perfect union with the best of both parties.”

Larry S.
“I’m feeling just fine. I’ll wait and see what happens the next year.”

David W.
“Terrible but at least we have the Texas state senate.”

Richard A.
“It’s a rebuke on MAGA”

Sheila D.
“Happy to report that the city isn’t on fire and that there has been no looting. Not sure that would have been true if the blue wave was a squashed.”

Lyndee W.
“Well guess we will see what happens. I am really afraid.”

Beebee W.
“I just moved to Texas. It’s been difficult to adjust to the culture and environment, but being able to make history by voting for Talarico for the Senate and Hinojosa for governor has made it all so worthwhile. Go Texas! Go USA! Go Blue!”

James D.
“Haven’t been this excited about an election in decades!”

Jim N.
“The 💙 tsunami by Democrats, ex Republicans and the independent voters said it all. They are tired of the corruption, the constant lies, the broken campaign promises, the self enrichment and failed policies of the current administration. The MAGA ship is sunk with more GOP in Congress jumping off as Congress convenes, productive legislation is passed and people are held accountable for their illegal actions.”

Richard A.
“Tarrant county Republicans got beat down the ballot . Feel so good today.”

Kurt W.
“Texas, and the USA, had a good run. Both are now lost to Kalifornification, to join the rest of the world in mediocrity that only dreamed of joining us one day. Now, WE will join THEM, instead. Glad I got to live in peak USA.”

Mark M.
“The air outside feels more free after last nights blue wave”

Rosemary R.
“I vote blue because I vote for a nation. Not my personal wants and wishes. If we can better the lives of those in need, we raise everybody up. The only people that lose when we unite as a nation are the billionaires. They have to keep us fighting against each other, so we don’t notice that they are destroying our way of life as their bank accounts keep growing. If the billionaires really loved this country, that has given them so many opportunities, they would pay their taxes with a smile on their faces.”

Nate R.
“Sad we have to try socialism to find out we know it doesn’t work.”

Virgil S.
“Taxes are still the same , Blue or Red !”

Sandra S.
“I am feeling thrilled that other Texans see the absolute need for change in Texas government after 30 years !!!!”

Courtney J.
“Definitely reconsidering moving. We’ll just be taxed to death and crime will spike.”

Rick S.
“Corporations will flee Texas just as they did California and New York”

Darcelle G.
“I happy to have the criminals out of office, let’s move to get them all out, and hold them accountable for their fraudulent crimes and political financial gains for themselves”

Gwen G.
“We celebrate today, but tomorrow there is too much work to get done.”
