Texas Monthly recently released its list of the 25 Best New(ish) Texas Taquerias in 2026, and two Fort Worth-area locations earned shoutouts from the publication: Taqueria La Revolución in Haltom City and Aquí Se Come in Arlington. The selections were chosen by José Ralat, who serves as the taco editor at Texas Monthly.

In Ralat’s write-up for Aquí Se Come, he praised the taqueria for its “textural double whammy of chicharrón guisado, a mix of chopped chicharrón and cubed chicharrón prensado (pressed pork cracklings).” Ralat added, “This rare treat combines soft pieces of skin and fat with firm meat in a red salsa and is served in your choice of a flour or yellow or blue corn tortilla—all are wonderfully chewy with a buttery finish.”

That restaurant is located at 300 W. Randol Mill Road in Arlington. Pro Tip: It’s inside the Kwik Food Store if you’re having trouble finding it. Aquí Se Come is open (per Google) from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. seven days a week.

As for Taqueria La Revolución, Ralat wrote, “La Revolución spotlights a little of everything but excels in seafood, especially with its taco gobernador, a cheesy shrimp taco that is crisped on the plancha. Also stellar is the ribeye taco, popping with beefy flavor and a dash of salt and finished with sweetness from ribbons of caramelized onions.”

Want to try the ribeye taco for yourself? The taqueria is located at 4000 E. Belknap in Haltom City. Its hours of operation (according to Google) are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 10 a.m. until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

Another Fort Worth establishment, Dos Mares, got an honorable mention from Texas Monthly on a different list, 10 Up-and-Coming Texas Taquerias I’m Keeping My Eye On. In that review, Ralat wrote,  “Here you’ll find a Baja fish taco that pleases with its crunchy slaw.”

Dos Mares is found at 3260 W. 7th St. and is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays. It’s closed on Mondays.

Three Dallas taquerias also made the cut

Fort Worth’s taco joints are being kept company on Texas Monthly’s list by three Dallas-area spots: Taco KingDragon Casa, and Tacos Juancho.  Taco King received a nod from José Ralat for its “birria tacos and burritos,” but he said, “you must try the signature King Taco, in which an asiago-forward costra is filled with well-seasoned carne asada.”

Taco King is located at 4100 Fourteenth in Plano and features halal tacos with both Levantine and Mexican influences. It’s open Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m.  to 10 p.m., from 3 p.m. until midnight on Fridays, and from 12 p.m. until midnight on Saturdays. The restaurant is closed on Sundays and Mondays.

Ralat said Dallas’s Dragon Casa (3355 E. Trinity Mills Road) is unique because it includes dishes with both Mexican and Chinese influences.  “Customers can dive into dishes such as tacos stuffed with strips of Peking duck or tantalizing birria inside xiao long bao (soup dumplings) or mixed with fried rice,” he wrote.

Dragon Casa is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and then again from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on those days. It’s open from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

Finally, Oak Lawn’s Tacos Juancho was praised by Ralat for one dish in particular. He said, “The best taco on the menu is the ribeye, inspired by the taco de gaonera served at Mexico City taqueria El Califa de León. Tacos Juancho’s version is far superior, featuring succulent beef, milky yet caramelized quesillo, creamy avocado, and queso fresco on a blue corn tortilla.”

Tacos Junacho is located at 3604 Oak Lawn Avenue in Dallas. The restaurant’s hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 1 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sundays.
