The Republican-dominated Tarrant County Commissioners Court delayed a vote Tuesday afternoon on a proposal that would have reduced the number of polling sites across the county by 45% following severe community backlash. As residents continued to voice their frustrations and opposition to the proposal, Tarrant County Judge Tim O’Hare cleared the courtroom after attendees reacted to one speaker comparing Texas to Russia. The court is now expected to vote on the proposal on Sept. 1.
