On July 27, a federal judge ordered the release of a key witness to the fatal shooting of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, ruling that Jose Trinidad Rojas Pliego must be freed within 48 hours. Attorneys say he’s one of the only witnesses to the shooting, which ICE agents carried out without body cameras or dashcams. US Rep. Sylvia Garcia (D‑Texas) responded by calling for the release of the other witnesses.
