La Cancha Social Club is opening at 820 Holman St. in Houston. Here’s everything you need to know about the sports bar/nightclub.

When it was previously announced that Astros pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. and company’s pickleball spot, Solarium, was permanently closing, many locals wondered what kind of establishment would take its spot at 820 Holman Street. If you happened to guess a Latin sports bar/nightclub, then you’d be right. La Cancha Social Club is getting ready to welcome guests, whether they want to relax and take in a soccer match or grab drinks and dance the night away. Or, for you particularly extroverted folks, maybe even a little bit of both.

Co-owned by Nicole Solano and Alex Guzman, La Cancha is hoping to carve out its own special niche in the city. As Guzman told Chron, “Houston doesn’t have something that mixes sports and nightlife,” so they wanted to fill this particular hole in the market. Solano said they were originally looking at other spaces for La Cancha when the prospect of moving into Solarium’s old digs was floated their way. “We were not necessarily interested in that space, [but] we were interested in Midtown,” she said. Solano added, “[The property] was offered to us and that was the one we all agreed upon.”

A soft opening was held on April 16 for family and friends. La Cancha’s Instagram comment section indicates that it will be open Thursdays-Sundays, but as of writing, there’s no word yet as to what the hours of operation will be. The social club has been good about regularly posting content to social media though, including several posts about signature drinks that will be served up on the premises. Solano and Guzman said they’re particularly excited about hosting viewing events for soccer matches during the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, and as a bonus, they’ll also have their very own soccer field on site.

La Cancha is gearing up to host several events during the 2026 FIFA World Cup

Nicole Solano and Alex Guzman want to put sports front-and-center at La Cancha Social Club, particularly soccer. The establishment is set to host events, tournaments, and games in upcoming months, which coincides perfectly with the 2026 FIFA World Cup. As Guzman told Chron, “We are excited about it and have a few things we are working on. We will have amazing events during [the] World Cup and are working with a huge name in soccer that we are securing to sponsor one of the biggest events for [the] World Cup.” The tournament itself is scheduled for June 11 through July 19.

Two Texas cities will serve as hosts for the World Cup: Dallas and Houston. Dallas will host nine matches and Houston is set to host seven. It’s sure to be an exciting time in the Lone Star State, as this year’s competition will see 48 teams competing for the first time ever. In previous years, the World Cup operated under a 32-team format. Team USA is competing in Group D and has its first match on June 12. Judging by the sounds of La Cancha Social Club’s ambitious goals (pun intended), it’ll likely be a great spot to catch the match and eat some good food with your friends.
