Texas state Rep. Ron Reynolds (D‑TX) is leading a push to make girls flag football an official UIL sanctioned sport, opening the door for thousands of female athletes to compete for varsity letters and state championships.
The proposal would bring long‑overdue recognition to a fast‑growing sport and expand opportunities across Texas high schools. Reynolds says the goal is simple: give young women the same access to competitive, school supported athletics that their peers already enjoy.
The effort comes as interest in girls flag football continues to surge statewide.
