Houston Controller Chris Hollins says his office still hasn’t received any of the records requested from the Mayor’s office nearly three months ago as part of its investigation into Mayor John Whitmire’s senior adviser for financial integrity, Chris Brown. According to records reported by the Houston Chronicle, Brown earns more than $127,000 a year in taxpayer-funded salary yet badged into city facilities just 13 times across nearly 600 workdays. As of April, he had reportedly sent just 12 outgoing emails in all of 2026. Now, Hollins says the city attorney will only provide the requested information if he signs a document promising not to disclose it publicly, a condition he refuses to accept.
