Welcome to the almost weekend, y’all 😮💨
Before we get into ICE pushback, World Cup worries, and what DFW city Gov. Greg Abbott threatened this week, let’s take a look at the latest gas prices, before you dive into weekend plans. And let me be frank—they’ve hit new heights.
According to AAA, state prices have surpassed $4 through more than half of Texas. Dallas and Tarrant counties are sitting right at four bucks. You may be able to save a couple of dollars filling up in Collin or Denton County. West Texas is definitely getting the worst of it, with one county hit the hardest at $4.60—the national average is $4.55. Will we surpass our record-breaking 2022 prices? I sure hope not.
What can be done?
Well, besides ending our war with Iran, the governor can pause the Texas state motor fuel tax, which adds 20 cents to each gallon. State leaders like Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller (R) and State Rep. and gubernatorial candidate Gina Hinojosa (D-Austin) have called for this suspension, but there’s been no response from Abbott—the only one who can make the decision. I’ll keep you updated on this.
Did this just depress you? I’m sorry. Scroll down to see baby eagles. 🫶
