We’ve been enjoying some nice, breezy weather, so I hate to drop this on our laps, and on a Friday no less, but: hurricane season is coming.
Yes, it’s two months away, but the early outlook is already out, with predictions on how many storms we could see—and how El Niño might shape things this year. If you’ve been putting off prepping, consider this your sign.
And speaking of not being prepared, the City of Houston is staring down a $174 million budget shortfall—the largest in its history, and leaders say the current path just isn’t sustainable.
There’s more happening across the city, too, including a new policy meant to limit how Houston police work with federal immigration authorities.
But it’s not all heavy. This is still Houston, and there’s always something going on—from free events at the library to festivals popping up across the city. (See our events calendar down below!)
And downtown’s about to see some changes, with upgrades coming to Toyota Center that’ll bring even more big events our way in the next few years.
It’s not about ignoring the hard headlines. It’s about finding a little balance—maybe that looks like grabbing a friend, heading to Discovery Green, and taking a slow cruise around Kinder Lake. A different view, even just for a bit, can go a long way.
Alright, Houston, let’s take a look at the headlines.
