2 candidates lead crowded US House race in Houston

Early voting in the race for a US House seat in Houston opened on Monday, with two candidates leading a field of 16 people running—Harris County Attorney Christian Menefee and former Houston City Councilmember Amanda Edwards. Election Day is Nov. 4.
The election is to fill the 18th Congressional District seat, which was left vacant after the death of former Rep. Sylvester Turner on March 5. The district includes much of central Houston.
