Go Easy owner, Molly Mathias has had enough. She’s closing her Bishop Arts storefront ahead of another hit to the state’s hemp businesses. After Texas issued a flower/ smokeable hemp ban this spring, a new ruling will take Delta-8 and other cannabinoids off the shelves by the end of the month. Mathias just couldn’t justify a storefront that can only sell items that directly compete with big box stores, like Target and Total Wine & More. After the July 31 deadline, only Delta-9 drinks, edibles, and topicals will remain. But Mathias doesn’t even trust that those products will stick around with a federal ban looming. Last year, the Department of Homeland Security redefined legislation that now means most consumable hemp and CBD products are to become illegal across the country in November.
