Houstonians fought to get marijuana enforcement on the November ballot

This November, Houston voters will decide on the future of the city’s marijuana enforcement. The Houston Freedom Act proposes the deprioritization of marijuana enforcement by the Houston Police Department and would ban no-knock warrants. The Nov. 3 vote comes nearly two years after Attorney General and US Senate candidate Ken Paxton sued five cities for passing an earlier version of the policy. Paxton’s stance on cannabis remains in opposition with that of most Texans and Americans across both parties.
