Eating out should be enjoyable, not scary. Those with allergies and food sensitivities shouldn’t be left out of Dallas’ delicious food scene, and while all restaurants should try to accommodate everyone, some restaurants are better than others really thinking about inclusivity from their inception. They do this by not just offering alternatives, but also preparing and storing ingredients safely. The restaurants below are beloved and trusted by those with food allergies in the metro.

Origin Kitchen and Bar

Address: 4438 McKinney Ave #150, Dallas, TX 75205

Origin is a celiac-friendly restaurant that boasts a clean menu of organic sweeteners and pasture-raised meats. Their menu notes that they only sautee in extra virgin olive oil and will only fry with coconut oil. They welcome eaters with allergies, and offer ingredient transparency that’s rare. Gluten-free chicken fried steak, anyone?

Sugar and Sage Bakery

Address: 4314 Lovers Ln, Dallas, TX 75225

Owner Alison Weinstein dreamt of a peanut-free bakery so her daughter could eat everything on the menu, so she built her own. Sugar and Sage Bakery offers delicious pastries and fresh breads in a pretty storefront off Lovers. The executive pastry chef, Jill Bates, had the same title at Fearing’s in The Ritz Carlton for more than a decade.

Unrefined Bakery

5 Locations Across the DFW

Cookies, cupcakes, pies, and custom cakes that won’t make you sick is what Unrefined Bakery is all about. This bakery is made for clean eaters and folks with allergies, as the owners are a mother-daughter team who share a celiac diagnosis amongst other food challenges. The bakery is 100 percent gluten free and 99 percent dairy and corn free. They also offer eats for folks following keto and paleo diets, as well.

Flower Child

5 Locations in DFW

Flower Child makes eating out and avoiding gluten easy

With symbols next to menu items that denote it’s safe to order, Flower Child makes eating out and avoiding gluten easy. And because the majority of the menu is gluten free, folks with food allergies will enjoy numerous healthy, fast casual food options.

Asian Mint

5 Locations Across DFW

The delicious Asian Mint boasts a menu that’s very friendly to those avoiding gluten, including sushi. Customers love that the staff take allergies seriously, and that they don’t have to skip dessert because Asian Mint has several glutenless options, including their popular flourless chocolate cake.

Casa Vegano

Address: 333 Jefferson Blvd, Dallas, TX 75208

A dairy allergy shouldn’t prevent a Texan from having queso, and Casa Vegano is making sure of it. This vegan Tex-Mex spot is giving customers all the cheesy goodness of chimichangas and enchiladas with no pain and regret. One customer review stated, “The queso was to die for,” but thankfully that’s not a sacrifice Casa Vegano customers have to make.

True Food Kitchen

Located in Dallas and in Plano

This national chain doesn’t cook with seeds oils and offers gluten-free bread, pita, and beer options. For customers with allergies, there is a protocol that staff follow to ensure your safety despite not technically being a gluten- or nut-free kitchen.

Hello Dumpling

Two Dallas Locations

If you’re gluten-free you’d think dumplings would be off the table, but Hello Dumpling offers two two kinds of gluten-free handmade rice dumplings. Their menu includes other options for folks avoiding gluten, including beef, chicken, or tofu skewers, as well as cold salads like zucchini noodles.
