Houston opens 222‑bed facility to help curb the city’s growing homeless crisis

Houston’s new $16 million, 222‑bed facility at 419 Emancipation is now open — offering triage care, medical and mental‑health services, and a faster path into stable housing for residents experiencing homelessness.

According to the Coalition for the Homeless of Houston/Harris County, Harris County has 1,790 sheltered homeless residents and 1,210 unsheltered homeless residents. This center is part of the city’s push to bring those numbers down with real, long‑term solutions.
