Adrian Torres of Máximo was one of three Houston-based chefs honored at this year’s James Beard Foundation Awards.
Born in Mexico, Torres is a DACA recipient who immigrated to the U.S. at just five years old. Now, he’s been named Emerging Chef—one of the highest honors in the culinary industry.
Two other Houston-area chefs, Evelyn Garcia and Henry Lu of JŪN, were also honored, taking home the award for Best Chef: Texas.
